Havnetri is properly one of the most charismatic tri events. Beside from the perfect environment in the heart of Copenhagen at Islands Brygge the race it self is just filled with happy enthusiastic people all sharing the same joy for the sport.
Four of the sangria athletes participated this year. The Pilot had his virgin race. Congrats young man – you did it brilliantly.
Everyone was very nervous with the swimming part since the danish weather had been failing for week the temperature barely made it to 14,2 degrees. As one can see form the results everyone was marked by the cold water. But we have to give credit to the rookie, the pilot finished only 39 second after the Doctor who surprisingly beat the dancer in the swim (first time that ever happened). Taken into account the pilot only started on crawl swimming in February and he even did in a half wet suit. Look out for this coming star – “the swimming” might soon need a new nickname…:)
The bike route was must better and faster this year. Unfortunately it was 5km short of the official distance which confused some contestant. Everyone on the long distance was to bike 4 rounds. The Dancer planned his strategy on completed distance instead of counting 1,2,3,4 which ended up with 35km – but that means one more round! So he did and thereby finishing the bike with 45km completed believing nothing was wrong (beside dropping 1 energy bottle – that should last the whole trip and having 2 false turns…minor mistakes along the way..). When leaving transition the Dancer could faintly hear “go daler” behind him…wtf??!? how in hell could the Doctor be right behind when the Dancer had a 20min head start (due to individual start procedure).
We all know that the Doctor always produces a solid performance on the bike… but please on a 45km route that’s impossible even for the Doctor to close off 20min gap.
Fortunately the legs was with dancer that day – one could say the dancing shoes were on:)
With a exceptional good performance the Dancer finished off the 10km in 41min.’
Today’s victory goes official to the Doctor with a total time of 2,28 with the Dancer 3minutes behind.
Special applause goes to The Pilot for having finished his first race in a most convincing manner and applause to the Player for continuously not training but still dragging his ass across the finish in a party fashion manner!! That’s the true spirit of Team Sangria!
Results – ascending order:
*One might note that The Dancer actually drove 10km more than everyone else and actually spent 22mins more on the bike than necessary but that’s just details….
