With Kronborg castle as the backdrop, KMD IRONMAN 70.3 Kronborg 2015 had The Swimmer as a lone representative for Team Sangria. He was however at no time alone, as more than 1500+ happy triathletes had chosen this cold June morning to jump in Elsinore harbor and participate in this beautiful event.
A chaotic water start played out well for The Swimmer, whom pulled in front with a small lead pack. Out of the water in a top 10 time, and as the fastest Dane in his age-group M30-34 cemented his position as The Swimmer of Team Sangria ( better luck next time, Pilot 😉 ).
The bike route toke the participants along the windy road of north Zealand. A ‘breeze’ that had all triathletes working hard! However, The Swimmer made it through the bike leg without any bigger problems, except for the fact that way too many had overtaking him! The fish needs to spend more time on land, and learn to push them watts!..
The Swimmer was not looking forward to what was awaiting after T2, after a very bad experience on the run leg at Mallorca 70.3 five weeks earlier. The next 21km where by all means not pretty, but better than last time! Again, water-time needs to be sacrificed for ground-time in the upcoming weeks of training. Despite a small energy crisis, the finish line was reach and the Holger Danske medal where placed around his neck.
A finish time of 5.06.43 was what The Swimmer had in him on June 21st 2015 – a time that has room for a great deal of improvement – but acceptable.
