Cheeeeers Bitch!!! the unofficial slogan of Team Sangria…
Øresund was the third race of the season for three team sangria members and just a week after the cold experience at Havne Tri.
The Race was a half Ironman just like Mallorca so everyone knew what was waiting…. no mountains, no hot water, no bikini girls cheering along the beach run just a battle to improve one’s PRs and show off the sangria style.
Props to the Swimmer who showed up in the early morning to give us a good cheer along the way. At that hour everybody was more thrilled by the idea of it all being over in 6 hours.
Boom! and the race was on. From last weekend’s experience everyone took a more defensive approach to the swim which favored the Dancer who exited the swim first with a 5min lead to the Doctor and even set a new PR for the swim ~ 5minutes faster than last year.
Some sangria members could benefit from practicing the transitions a little more…the lead grew 2.5 minute just heading out of T1.
Though just as many times before – The Doctor – unleashed the inner beast on the bike and set a new PR with record time of 2.34. Well done Doctor!
Just as the Mallorca race the Dancer was overtaken by the Doctor on the bike with his usual trade mark “CHEERS BITCH!!!!” just as he passes by. One can only sit by and watch the Doctors perfectly proportioned ass hammering away in a unbelievable pace. This is the second time this year the Dancer has had this privilege only this time it happened after barely 45km which made the Dancer worry about his changes to redeem himself after last week’s race. Not to say the Dancer had a bad bike split but he did again have some challenges with bike route. Dropping 4 cans along the way including the special power blend that should last 2/3 of the way – forcing him to completely change energy strategy and ending up with no energy for the last hour on the bike. Not the best starting point for run.
…but then came T2 and wups! 1 free minute for the Dancer…!Guys please do remember the 4th discipline – transition!
Out on the run after approximately 4 km …”CHEEEERS BITCH”. Damn it feels good to return the slogan:) It was obvious that the Doctors legs was heavy after the bike so the Dancer had no trouble catching up and leaving him behind and run to the finish line with a new PR for the run as well.
Thanks to the many people who showed up to cheer on team sangria.
Eventually the Player did finish – I think we will count this one as a mental victory and as a step on the route back to former highs. Well done! Thank you all for a great race again this year!
